DO NOW: Use the piece of paper on your group’s desk to create a T-chart like the one from your homework. As a group, create a new T- chart with 5 bullet points on each side. Decide which bullet points from all of your homework you find the most interesting and the most important.

CLASSWORK: The “Year of No Rain” is being turned into a movie. Create a movie trailer for the book using iMovie.

How Does the Past Affect the Present in East Africa?

Bonjour! (In Rwanda, people speak French, along with their tribal languages)

We completed our African safari! What an amazing sight seeing the “Big Five,” Olduvai Gorge, the Gorillas in Bwindi! I can’t believe all that there is to see in East Africa. And the geography! The Great Rift Valley with its mountains and plains! Amazing! As beautiful as East Africa is though, it has had its fair share of tragedy. Today we are going to look at what is going on in many East African countries and how these events happened.

DO NOW: Answer the following questions:
1. How did the Great Rift Valley form?
2. What are the “Big Five” animals?
3. What is a safari?

HOMEWORK: Continue to work on your Journals from the Safari Webquest. They are due on Tuesday! Current Events also due on Tuesday!
