Today is your last workday with your partner to create the cookbook for your assigned country. But before we start we need to get our FOOD!!!!!!

DO NOW: With your partner, get ready to discuss how you will tell us about your dish. You must say: What it is? What it is made of?

CLASSWORK: Partners will present their food to the class. What is it? What is it made of?

Then, Work Time. Project is due at the end of class!

Latin America Cookbook Project

Ola'! (Hello! from the Portuguese speakers of Brazil. Brazil was colonized by the Portuguese, so it is their main language.)

We have spent the past couple days learning about what the Americas current culture is and why. Today we are going to start a project that will give you a chance to look more closely at 1 country and its culture.

DO NOW: Answer the following questions independently
1. List 2 reasons the Europeans came to the Americas
2. How are the priests of the Maya different than the priests of the Europeans?
3. Why did many civil wars start in the Americas after they gained independence?

CLASSWORK: Open the Latin American Cookbook Project sheet in eBackpack. We will go through how the project will work.

HOMEWORK: Begin to work on research for your project.
